Teaching Artist
Haskel Jackson, Jr., is the founder and CEO of Genesoul Productions where he develops and produces seasoned and emerging artists from all backgrounds and genres. He is an established producer, songwriter, and former singer, who has been nominated for 3 Grammy Awards, achieved 3 Gold Records, 1 Platinum Record, and has over 10 song placements with major artists.
Haskel was employed by the Kanye West Foundation during the 2006 – 2007 pilot of the Loop Dreams program at The Accelerated School in South Central Los Angeles. Following the pilot of the program, the foundation formed a partnership with Challengers Boys & Girls Club to offer Loop Dreams first as an after-school program to students, and later to students during the summer.
Haskel selected the industry standard studio equipment needed to teach the Loop Dreams class. He has extensive experience with Logic Pro 6, 7, and 8, Pro-Tools, Motif XS Keyboard, Roland Fantom Keyboard, AKAI MPC 2000 XL & 2500, Reasons 4, and almost any plug-in imaginable.
In addition to the after-school program, Loop Dreams is offered as an elective to students at the Lou Dantzler Preparatory Middle School (on the campus of Challengers Boys & Girls Club) during the regular school day. Haskel teaches an exciting and totally engaging music production curriculum, including sequencing, editing, drum programming, composing, arrangement, song writing, rap writing, vocal production, mic technique, and studio decorum. In addition to teaching the technical aspect, he also teaches the business side of the music industry such as publishing and copywriting. Needless to say, the Loop Dreams Program is a very popular class on campus. The foundation is pleased to have Mr. Jackson on its staff.
